Makeup is more popular now than it has ever been before. Everyone is using makeup both boys and girls. But the problem is many products can clog your pores if you don’t wash them off. If you keep makeup on for extended periods of time (25+ hours) it may be hard to get rid of the effects.
Lanolin is produced by sheep skin and used in makeup products to soften and smooth skin. The face reality skin care clinic rated products on a 1-5 scale of what is most likely to clog your pores and Lanolin was listed as a 4.
Oils, even beneficial ones such as Jojoba, were listed as 4 as well but your skin type is to be considered as well. Salt in facial soaps can clog pores as well. While the salt itself doesn't directly cause blockage its combination with detergent can dry out skin and cause more sebum to be produced.
Skin produces an oil called Sebum, which is helps flush out dead skin and dirt as it is released from the skin. Clogged pores are a result of built up dead skin and sebum. When pores cannot successfully release the oil, dirt, and dead cells it creates a blockage which can get infected and thus produce acne.
There are many different types and symptoms of acne, some symptoms include:
closed clogged pores (whiteheads)
open clogged pores (blackheads)
small sensitive bumps (papules)
pimples (papules with pus)
painful big firm lumps (nodules)
pus-filled painful lumps (cystic lesions)
Just because many makeup products can cause acne that doesn't mean they are bad. Wearing makeup is a common thing that can be worn by anyone, but the only problem is with leaving it on too long. Failure to wash off products that contain substances like Lanolin can lead to clogged pores and eventually acne. The easiest way to prevent acne is washing your face with cleanser that fits your skin type needs.
