Generation Z is typically mistaken for millennials, though our generation begins in the year 1998 and continues to 2016. Gen Z is often thought of the generation who grew up with online technology and is addicted to cell phones. But this isn't all we have to offer. Generation Z has been named “the most inclusive and diverse generation yet”. So who really is Gen Z and how are we different (or similar) from the other generations.

Because of the internet, our generation has been handed a key no others have. This makes members of Generation Z less susceptible to false advertisements. When they look up brands and products to use, they can find all the bad (and good stuff) about the company within seconds.
The internet has also opened up a lot of social media options as well. Almost all of Generation Z has a cell phone and of those who have a cell phone, most likely have at least one form of social media installed. Social media has become an important part of not just Gen Z’s lives but everyone's. Generation Z just happens to be the first generation to grow up knowing nothing about life without it.
The internet plays a major role in Gen Z’s title as ‘the most accepting and inclusive generation’. The internet gives us access to see sides of all stories, not just the
people around us. Being able to open your phone and see all sides of an issue is important and has helped us become more accepting towards new ideas and opinions. Though that might not be a direct link to social media it plays a role in the process of that. Generation Z has show to be more accepting than previous generations in real life too.
Generation Z seems to be more comfortable stating their opinions and opening up about who they are even if it is different than society’s norm. For example, more teens have declared themselves apart of the LGBTQ community. A lot more teens are accepting of this and embracing them even despite their differences, which in turn causes more places to become a safe space and the domino effect takes place which means more teens will come out. With the turn of the century, it seems to have brought acceptance and speaking your mind more freely.
So… that’s Generation Z, and we can only wonder to see what the next generation will bring us. Mostly, Generation Z is the first generation to have grown up online, more accepting, and more change making/speaking their minds.
